CAN recently (February 2026) hosted its annual cinema event in Reading for the third time, with around 50 guests in attendance. Maria and Anoushka, who have been volunteering for CAN for their Duke of Edinburgh Award, share their experience.
We had a great time watching the new film ‘Kangaroo’ which was fun but a little scary at times. However, the overall story was very cute and it was enjoyable to see the joeys being saved from the wild!
There were lots of snacks and drinks for everyone and we had super comfortable reclining chairs. Everyone seemed to enjoy the film. When the film finished, there was a brilliant game of “ice-breaking bingo” – everyone had to search for people who shared things in common with them. It was great fun and worked really well as everyone got to know each other better and more quickly.
